This is the rare BT Merlin Tonto M1887 Data Comms Adaptor which plugs into one of the slots in a Merlin Tonto or ICL One Per Desk ROMpack, to allow the computer to be used as a computer terminal.

Once connected, you can use your Merlin Tonto computer (or ICL One Per Desk) as a VT100, VT52 or Teletype Terminal and connect the computer to a host computer (or computer service) using the in-built 25 way D-type serial connector (RS232C standard).

Connection options allow you to set up the line speed, parity, number of bits, buffer protection (XON/XOFF), new line format, and other options to allow you to connect easily to a range of other computers - settings can be stored in a terminal profile directory - allowing you to switch quickly between connections to different computers.

You can even change the module to support the RS423 standard instead of RS232C, by altering a jumper inside the unit.

In excellent condition and working, complete with manual.
