PROFESSIONAL POWER SAVER PROTECTION FOR:
- C64 (all models)
- VIC20 (only with DIN models,not for 2poles version)
- PLUS 4
This "Power Saver HQ" is different from ordinary protectors: it is professional. And it was created to protect all the Commodore power supplies according to the list.
The protection is complete, both for the 5VDC line but also for the 9VAC line. It is completely made of semiconductors with very fast intervention times 20us (microseconds!), no relay on board that would require long intervention times 200ms (milliseconds!).
What does it means this time value?
It means 10 time fasters then relay-based protections . This is the only way we can safely safeguard our Commodore vintage computer
5VDC MONITORING
In the event of an output voltage from the power supply greater than 5.35V / 5.4V, our "Power Saver HQ" intervenes to cut off the output voltage, protecting all the ICs on this chain, thus avoiding a rather expensive expense given the cost (6526A, 6510, PLA, RAM, ROM, etc.).
9VDC MONITORING
The alternating 9VAC line is monitored and protected by fast solid-state devices that limit any peaks of disturbances coming from the network as well as additional protection against abnormal absorption.
I remind you that from this line the power supplies for SID 6581 and VIC 6569 are also obtained as verifiable from the official Commodore documentation.
This "Power Saver HQ" therefore offers you protection both on the 5Vdc line and on the 9Vac line and also has three LEDs used to monitor the smooth operation of both the power supply and the Commodore
GREEN LED
1) ON: All ok. Your Commodore is working has 5VDC under safety threshold
2) OFF: There isn't 5VDC output from the "Power saver HQ " DIN male connector. (No 5VDC at the input of "Power saver".Check if your original power supply is connected and if it works)
YELLOW LED
1) OFF --> regular operation.All ok
2) ON --> protection has occurred ... and your Commodore is SAFE! In this case we will notice that the green LED has also gone out, so we will no longer have 5Vdc output. At this point we will have to open the box to replace the protection fuse (Fuse 1.25A / 5x20mm)
RED LED
1) OFF : All ok. Your Commodore is working properly
2) ON: Your original "power supply" has a serious breakdown, therefore it is likely that its internal regulator (78S05) breaks and about 12V spills out towards the C64 ... disaster!
DON'T WORRY!
In this case our "Power saver HQ" intervenes very quickly and cuts off the power supply to your Commodore!
You only need to repair / replace the original Commodore power supply and replace the internal fuse of " HQ Power saver"
COMMODORE PLUS 4 (DIN MALE INFORMATION)
According to 4 PIN square connector that is not available we can provide the "Power saver HQ" with our DIN MALE modified (check the picture) with +8€ extra. In this case send me a message in order to receive invoice with total amount adjusted
