The MOS 6510 is a special version of the 6502 CPU for the Commodore 64. It is compatible and interchangeable with the MOS 8500 used in later C64 machines
The usual symptom of a faulty CPU on a C64 is a black screen on start-up - but this is the symptom of many faults on the C64.
