This is a replacement for the CO60472 delay line used in Atari 8-bit computers. The CO60472 is used for generating the RAS, MUX and CAS signals for the DRAM memory. This part is a re-implemenation of the CO60472 based on a 74HC14 inverter and resistor/capacitor combinations to implement the delay. It is a drop-in replacement for the CO60472.

This part is compatible with the following computers:

  • Atari 600XL
  • Atari 800XL


A broken CO60472 is a common defect in these computers and will cause a black screen.

The original CO60472 is an EP8212 by PCA Electronics. This replacement is not an exact clone the EP8212: The delays depend on the clock frequency and the resistor values have been tuned to the clock frequency used in the Atari computers. It might be possible to replace the EP8212 in different circuits by using different resistor values.

The idea for this part comes from the Atari community, but I did redesign the electronic schematic in order to get closer to the original CO60472 timing.

In order to keep the size of the adaper reasonable, some SMD components have been used, but it is not the worst of SMD, the kit is still very easy to solder with a normal soldering iron.

You will receive:

  • Adapter PCB
  • 74HC14 integrated circuit
  • 3 * 150pF ceramic capacitor
  • 120 ohm resistor
  • 270 ohm resistor
  • 820 ohm resistor
  • instruction manual


Atari part numbers use the typewriter character set where O and 0 are identical and so are I and 1. Therefore this part is sometimes referred to as C060472.
