Watch ItemDescription
The AMYATXA2000 Plus is an A2000 PSU to ATX converter cable module specifically designed for the Amiga 1500/2000.
With this high quality adapter module you can use a cheaper (and easily available in the market) ATX power supply in your Amiga 2000 or 1500.
The adapter simply plugs into a standard ATX power supply and Amiga 2000 motherboard (as shown in the images) and accepts both 20-pin and 24-pin ATX connectors.
Also, unlike similar cheaper ATX cable adapters, the AMYATXA2000 Plus generates a quartz controlled 50Hz for PAL Amigas (or 60Hz on demand for NTSC Amigas) TTL level square wave "TICK" signal suitable for proper operation of the A2000 and then there is no need to change the jumper configuration on the Amiga 2000 motherboard.
In addition, even the -5V voltage is generated internally starting from the -12V voltage which any ATX PSU owns.
Also, in addition, a two-color LED shows the status of the ATX power supply:
OFF = PSU OFF;
RED = STAND-BY (or there is a short circuit on MoBo) ;
GREEN= POWER GOOD and PSU ON
COMPATIBLE WITH ALL MOTHERBOARD REVISIONS
This product is subject to aesthetical and functional improvements.
AMYATXA2000 Plus – ATX Power Supply Adapter Installation Guide for Amiga 2000
This guide walks you through replacing the original bulky PSU in your Amiga 2000 with a modern standard ATX power supply using the AMYATXA2000 Plus adapter.
• Disconnect power and remove the mains cable before starting.
• Work in a static-free environment. Use an anti-static wrist strap.
• Double-check all connections before powering on.
• If you are unsure, consult the official manual or a knowledgeable technician.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Preparation
- Disconnect your Amiga 2000 from the mains power.
- Remove the case cover.
- Remove the original bulky power supply and floppy drive assembly.
- Mounting the Adapter
Plug the AMYATXA2000 Plus adapter module directly into the power connector on the Amiga 2000 motherboard. - Connecting the ATX PSU
- Plug the standard 20-pin or 24-pin main connector from your new ATX power supply into the adapter.
- Connect any necessary peripheral power cables (Molex for hard drives, floppy drives, etc.) directly from the ATX PSU.
- Managing the TICK Signal
The AMYATXA2000 Plus has an integrated TICK generator, so in most cases you do not need to change any motherboard jumpers.
However, if you experience timing or boot issues, check that motherboard jumper J300 is set to accept an external TICK signal (instead of using the internal video-sync generated signal). - Initial Testing
- Connect the ATX power supply to the mains.
- Observe the bicolor LED on the AMYATXA2000 Plus adapter:
LED Status:
• Red → Standby mode (check all connections)
• Green → “Power Good” – the system is ready to boot - Final Assembly
Secure the new, much smaller ATX power supply inside the original PSU’s metal shell or mount it firmly inside the Amiga case (using an adapter plate if necessary). Reinstall the case cover.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Make sure your ATX PSU is of good quality and can supply enough current on the 5 V and 12 V rails (Amiga 2000 typically needs ~5–7 A on 5 V).
- If the LED stays red, re-check the 20/24-pin connector orientation and all Molex connections.
- After successful boot, you may remove the old PSU definitely or try to repair it if you have experiences.
