4116 DRAM tester by Stephen Vickers

These chips were notorious for failure. They were used in such retro computers as the ZX Spectrum, Apple 2 and the TI99/4a as well as a few others.

Board for the testing of 4116 Lower RAM chips. Simply plug your chip into the ZIF socket, power the board and wait for the result on the LEDs.


NOTE - DO NOT USE A SPECTRUM PSU - THIS DEVICE REQUIRES CENTER POSITIVE 9V SUPPLY

Place 4116 chip into the socket with pin 1 at the top left. Provide power to the board via the connect (9V supply center positive - NOT SPECTRUM PSU) or press reset on the Arduino board. Blue/Green LED should flash. After approx 30 seconds result will be shown. If you have a solid blue/green light then congratulations, you have a good chip (we cannot guarantee how long it will last of course!). If you have a red LED, then we recommend repeating the test a few times, removing and replacing chip each time to make sure. However if it remains red after this, then sorry, this chip is bad :(
