Hide information about ColecoVision

Colecovision LogoThe ColecoVision was a games console released by Coleco during 1982.

The ColecoVision offered arcade-quality graphics and gaming style, the ability to play Atari 2600 video games, and the means to expand the system's basic hardware. Released with a catalog of twelve launch titles, approximately 125 titles in total were published as ROM cartridges for the system between 1982 and 1984.

The controller was rectangular and consisted of a numeric keypad and a set of side buttons, together with a short, 1.5-inch joystick. The keypad is designed to accept a thin plastic overlay that maps the keys for a particular game. Each ColecoVision console shipped with two controllers and supported 16 colours in 256x192 resolution.

Various modules were produced, including one to allow you to run the Atari 2600 games, and a steering wheel, together with accelerator pedal.

All machines were shipped with Nintendo's Donkey Kong (under licence) which helped to make this games console a hit, with over 2 million consoles sold.
