Description
Is proud to present the ZXpand Interface for the Sinclair ZX81 Home Computer:
The ZXpand interface is a brand new interface for the Sinclair ZX81 Home Computer which provides the following facilities:
- SD Memory Card reader - for instant loading from / saving to .p files (used by ZX81 emulators)
- 32K of configurable RAM memory, which can then be set up to use the various hi-resolution graphics schemes for the Sinclair ZX81
- New keywords are added to the system ROM to allow you to load and save programs, produce a catalogue of files on the memory
card, configure the ZXpand Interface, and delete files. - You can still load programs from cassette as well as using the interface, to allow you to copy files onto the SD memory card
- Sub-directories are supported on the memory card.
- The new ROM can be switched off once a program is loaded, in order to allow access to LPRINT, LLIST and COPY commands.
- There is a built in reset button to reset the ZX81 without having to pull the power lead.
- This now incorporates v4 of the ZXPand ROM which offers quicker start-up.
For Timex-Sinclair TS-1500 and Microdigital TK-85 Home Computer Users
The interface will also work with the Timex Sinclair TS-1500 and TK85 home computers, although you will need something similar to our ZXtend cable to provide room between the expansion port and the ZXpand, so that you can still access the TV out, and cassette lead ports.
We understand that the TS-1500 has additional memory built in (ie. more than 1K) and a special modification is necessary to overcome this - please contact us before ordering!
Additionally, the following features may be added with either an add-on PCB or some soldering:
- Zon-X81 Compatible AY sound interface
- Atari style joystick adaptor for specially written or patched games

NOTE:
- ZX81 computers with internal RAM upgrades may not be compatible. Contact us for advice.
- ZX81 computers with the internal regulator bypassed will not work without a small mod to ZXpand.

Question: Hi, is there any limit on the SD storage size? How much do you recomend?
Posted by bibosoft - 12/01/2012 22:13:05Answer: It shoudl support any size SD card as it uses the FAT 32 file storage system. 2-8GB is more than adequate.
