Watch ItemDescription
QL Trackball is a fairly standard version of a trackball (also called the Command Control), produced by Wico Corporation and initially aimed at Atari home video games, then making it onto Commodore Vic-20,Apple II and TRS-80 home computers.
A trackball is almost like an upside down mouse, where you move the ball around with your fingers in order to control the joystick or cursor on screen.
This appears to have only been released in the US market - it has a standard Atari style joystick connector (OK for US and European QLs), but which would need a joystick convertor on the UK standard QL.
The unit is also powered with a 6V (600mA) power supply - an American 110V power supply is included in the box, but I have tested the unit with a joystick convertor and a UK 6V power supply. The power supply is a standard DC pin, so easy to find!
Fully working this provides a different dimension of control when playing games or using art programs (they just need to be able to work using the QL cursor keys!).
In excellent condition - it is boxed, complete with original US power supply - the box is scuffed on the corners from storage.

Question: Hi, would this work as a mouse replacement for pointer environment? Thanks.
Posted by petrip - 20/01/2012 18:44:43Answer: Hi - this should work, yes - basically the pointer environment will work with the cursor keys, so a joystick also works - this emulates a joystick, so will also work - but not quite the same as using a mouse, as there is no sensor for speed of movement I guess (I can't test as I no longer have a joystick adaptor!)
