Description
This auction is for the famous DivIDE Plus Compact Flash / IDE Interface for the ZX Spectrum - the manual is available from RWAP Software.
The ZX Spectrum DivIDE Plus interface provides the ability to save and load programs from the ZX Spectrum onto (or from) either a compact flash card, or an IDE hard disk. Unlike the original DivIDE, this one allows you to connect both a hard drive and a compact flash card (or 2 compact flash cards with an IDE convertor), as well as switch between the various firmwares available to make the most use of the interface.
Unlike the original DivIDE interface, the DivIDE Plus incorporates a through connector which allows you to use the unit with a joystick interface for example - thanks to the sterling work of the +DivIDE firmware author, you can even connect a PlusD interface to transfer programs from floppy disk onto compact flash - a new PAL chip is required for the PlusD and this is early stages, but the possibilities are there!
It works on all Sinclair ZX Spectrums (including the early rubber key models, the Spectrum+ and Spectrum +128, the ZX Spectrum +2, +2A, +2B and +3) and the TS2048. Even the TS2068 will work wiht the DivIDE Plus, provided that you have with the Spectrum emulator cartridge.
Firmwares included are:
- ResiDOS (can be installed easily) onto the interface\'s battery backed memory - no need to Flash a chip!
- FATware
- +DivIDE
- MDOS
- DEMFIR
Being able to run ResiDOS means that the DivIDE Plus even allows you
to save files to the compact flash card. You can copy files
across from your Spectrum tapes, if necessary, store them as .tap files
and upload them onto your PC for use in emulators. Other users
have used the DivIDE Plus to run controls software with an A/D
convertor plugged into its through port. If you have the ZX
Spectrum +3 computer, you can upgrade the ROMs to +3e and then use both
the compact flash card and the disk drive at the same time.
The possibilities are endless.
